What VolleyPad does
Does it calculate stats, or is it just a diagram?
Both, and the stats are the differentiator. Every mark you make on the court is data. Pass ratings roll into passer ratings for each passer. Attacks and their outcomes roll into hitting averages for each attacker. Everything is broken out by rotation across all six rotations, so you can see how a passer performs in rotation 1 vs rotation 4, or how an outside hits from the front row vs the back row. You chart the rally naturally on a touch canvas; the numbers come out the other side without a separate data-entry step.
Does it work offline at the gym?
Yes. The iPad app is offline-first: chart rotations, marks, substitutions, and lineups with zero signal in any gym, and everything syncs automatically the next time you connect. Nothing you chart on the bench depends on the network. The web editor needs an internet connection (browser use).
Is my scouting data safe?
Your work is saved on the iPad the moment you make a mark - offline-first - and syncs to the cloud the next time you have a connection. Once it syncs, your reports live in your VolleyPad account across devices: pick them up in the web editor at volleypad.com, or on another iPad signed in with the same account. Nothing you charted on the bench is stranded on one device.
Can I scout my own team, not just opponents?
Yes. Every organization has an opponents list AND a self-scouting surface, so you can chart your own team the same way you chart an opponent. Same rotations, same marks, same stats broken out per rotation. Useful for gym practice reps, scrimmages, or reviewing your team's own tendencies alongside the opponent report.
Can I pre-scout from film?
Yes. Sit down with match film ahead of a match and chart the opponent rotation by rotation. When game day arrives, that pre-scout is already in the report; new marks you make live during the match appear in a different color so pre-match intel and in-match intel never blur together. You keep the historical record and layer the live rally on top.
Devices, sharing, and who it is for
What devices does VolleyPad work on?
Available on iPad and any computer via the web editor. Not yet available on iPhone or Android. On iPad you can chart with your finger or with Apple Pencil - the Pencil can literally write a jersey number onto a court token. The web editor at volleypad.com runs in any modern desktop or laptop browser, as a companion to the iPad app.
What levels is VolleyPad built for?
Clubs, high schools, and colleges. Clubs and schools/colleges each have their own plan tier so match length (best-of-3 for club, best-of-5 for high school and NCAA) and roster size fit the level. Head coaches, assistants, scouting coordinators, and stats staff all use it.
Plans and pricing
How does pricing work, and what does the free preview include?
Every plan starts with a 14-day free preview - full app access, no charge, no card required. After that, subscribe from the iPad through the App Store or on the web through Stripe (billed yearly). Plans differ by the number of teams in your organization and by report volume: each plan includes a set number of Scouting Reports per team, scaling as you add teams. Club plans run 3-set reports; School & College plans run 5-set reports. Schools, athletic departments, and colleges that need invoice or purchase-order billing use the Custom plan (email us). See the Pricing page for the exact per-tier numbers.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. If you subscribed on the iPad, manage or cancel from your App Store subscription settings. If you subscribed on the web, open your organization's Billing section to cancel through the secure Stripe portal. Your plan stays active through the end of the period you've paid for. After it ends, your reports and organization data are retained and stay viewable; creating new reports requires an active plan.
About the name
Why is it called VolleyPad?
The "Pad" is a notepad, not an iPad. VolleyPad is the digital scouting notepad for volleyball coaches - it replaced the drawer of paper scouting sheets coaches used to keep on opponents. "Volley" plus "Pad" as in NOTEPAD: the same job the paper sheet did, rebuilt for the way matches actually move.
