Frequently Asked Questions
Product
What is VolleyPad and who is it for?
VolleyPad is the volleyball scouting notepad for coaches - it replaced the drawer of paper scouting sheets coaches used to keep on opponents. Head coaches, assistants, scouting coordinators, and stats staff use it to diagram opponent rotations, serve-receive patterns, approach routes, and attack tendencies, then update those diagrams live from the bench during matches. Clubs, high schools, and colleges are all supported.
What platforms does VolleyPad run on?
The app is built for iPad. The web editor at volleypad.com runs in any modern desktop or laptop browser and does everything the app does - chart, edit, and build reports with no iPad required. iPhone and Android apps are not available yet.
Is there an iPhone version?
VolleyPad is designed for iPad, where coaches have the screen space to chart from the bench. A full web editor covers laptop use. iPhone support is under consideration but not currently scheduled.
Does it work offline at the gym?
Yes. The iPad app is offline-first, chart rotations, marks, substitutions, and lineups with no signal at all, and everything syncs automatically the next time you connect. The web editor requires an internet connection.
What is the difference between the Serve-Receive and All-Attacks report types?
You pick a report type when you create a Scouting Report. Serve-Receive focuses on how the opponent receives serve, passer targets, first-ball attack tendencies, and out-of-system play. All-Attacks focuses on their attack across both phases: serve receive and transition. Same court, different labels and defaults per rotation stop, so each report matches how you actually scout.

What does the Rotation Helper do?
The Rotation Helper scaffolds each rotation with the standard serve-receive alignment for a 5-1 or 6-2 (libero optional), so you start from a familiar diagram instead of a blank court. You can convert 5-1 to 6-2 (or back) in place while a report is empty, and Advanced Set Tracking lets each set have its own alignment.

Plans & Billing
What counts as a "report" and what do the per-tier caps mean?
One "report" is one Scouting Report, usually one opponent for one match or tournament. Each plan includes a set number of reports per team. Club plans run 3-set reports (match-length for club volleyball); School & College plans run 5-set reports (match-length for high school and NCAA). See the Pricing page for the exact per-tier numbers.
Who on my staff can create reports?
Every plan includes a number of "report creators", coaches with permission to start new Scouting Reports. Other staff can be added as viewers or roster editors without counting against that cap. Roles are managed from your organization's Members section.
How many teams and coaches does each plan include?
Clubs and schools each have their own plans, and every plan includes a set number of teams, members, and Scouting Reports. See the Pricing page for the full breakdown, plan names and caps come straight from our live pricing table.
How does the free preview period work?
Every plan starts with 14 days of free preview access. Plans are billed yearly, and you can subscribe from the iPad app (through the App Store) or on the web (through Stripe). Subscriptions bill immediately at the listed price and renew annually; no free period is included.
How do I subscribe, and can schools pay by invoice or purchase order?
Most coaches subscribe directly: from the iPad app through the App Store, or on the web through Stripe. For schools, athletic departments, and colleges that need invoice or purchase-order billing, we offer a Custom plan with onboarding, training, and priority support, email us and we'll get you set up.
How do I change or cancel my subscription?
If you subscribed on the iPad, manage or cancel from your App Store subscription settings. If you subscribed on the web, open your organization's Billing section to change plans, update payment details, or cancel through the secure Stripe portal. Your plan stays active through the end of the period you've paid for.
Troubleshooting
I charted a match and it isn't showing on my other device
VolleyPad is offline-first, changes save on the device and sync when it's back online. Steps: confirm the iPad has a connection; leave the app open on the reports list for a minute; pull down on the reports list to refresh. If it's still missing, email contact@volleypad.com with the account email, organization name, and roughly when the report was created.
I subscribed but my organization is still locked
App Store purchases can take a few minutes to register. Steps: confirm you're signed in with the account that purchased; open Settings > Billing in the app and tap Restore Purchases; check Settings > Apple Account > Subscriptions on the iPad to confirm the subscription is active. If it persists, email contact@volleypad.com with the account email and your App Store receipt.
Account & Data
Who owns my scouting data and can I export it?
You do. Export any Scouting Report as a print-ready PDF whenever you like, and you can delete your account, and its data, at any time from the Account screen.
How is athlete data handled for schools and colleges?
Coaches and team staff enter all content; athletes never enter data. Player accounts are optional and view-only: if your organization shares an invite link, a player can sign in to see the reports you share with them and nothing more. Roster and scouting information is visible only inside your organization, controlled by the roles you assign. Your organization owns its data: you can export reports as PDFs and request full export or deletion at any time. VolleyPad does not sell data and does not use advertising or analytics SDKs in the app. VolleyPad is not an educational records system and does not receive student education records from your institution. For procurement or IT review questions, email contact@volleypad.com and we will complete your questionnaire.
How do I invite my coaching staff?
From your organization's Members section, use Create Invite to generate an invite link. The coaches you add collaborate based on the role you assign them.
How do I reset my password?
On the sign-in screen, choose "Forgot Password?" and enter your email, we'll send a reset link. If you signed up with Google or Apple, sign in with that provider instead.
How do I delete my account?
Open the account menu, go to Account, and choose Delete Account. This permanently removes your account and associated data. Organization owners may need to delete their organization first.
How do I get help?
Email contact@volleypad.com, a real person reads every message. Signed-in coaches can also file a ticket directly from the in-app Help & Support screen (or from this page once you sign in), which keeps the conversation attached to your account.
